Hydrogen scooter

Sketches

In the beginning of the design process I was trying out some ideas for volumes that could approximately fit in the technical package. I also tried out different directions to have a holistic ideation of possibilities. The design of a friendly and easy going vehicle had established, so I went for a design in the same size as common vespas.

Tape rendering

To get a sense for the proportions I taped the first design relatively early in the scale 1:1. This gave me the opportunity to get a feeling how much curvature I wanted and how the main elements, such as the frame and the wheels should be. Bringing it to CAD I touched the proportions barely and only improved the footboard.

Accessible sharing device

With a concept for commuters in the urban area, a sharing device is perfectly fitting. Thereby a user can find and unlock the ride on the smart- phone. Before riding the phone can connect to the internal ecosystem, by inserting into the wireless charging compartment. The navigation and other necessary apps are accessible through the scooters main display.

Design

Every scooter and motorbike has an internal metal frame that builds the foundation for every component. This frame is the strongest element of the vehicle. Since it is a sharing scooter I converted this element into a rugged and protective outer frame that also has a drastically improved surface quality than plastics and other common materials.

This project was developed during my first year in master at FH Joanneum, Graz.
